The Running of the Kapahaka Kids By Kane

On Thursday 31st March Tamati Coffey came to Room 6 to do his weather presentation in our class. After he did the weather, we had to stay quiet. We did 5 performances for Tamati. Our last one was when we all ran down to our Panmure Bridge School sign to perform the Haka. We ran on the cold grass and someone said they couldn't feel their feet as they were numb. It was fun.

Poi-E with Tamati Coffey -By Lavinia and Tyla

Hooray! Panmure Bridge School's Kapahaka group got to perform in front of the whole world on live broadcast TV for Breakfast Weather News with Tamati Coffey. We had to do a Kapahaka Poi performance to the song Poi-e. Some of the Kapahaka group didn't get the poi so the teachers decided to make them dance to the song Poi-e and the girls with the pois did a little pukana to the television video camera. Our Kapahaka group had a really fun time and we wish everybody could experience with us what we did!

Here's a slideshow of some of the moments we shared with Tamati Coffey, preparing for and filming the Breakfast Weather Show. We were loving every minute of it!

The Sunshine Kapahaka - by Hope

One early morning we all woke up to be in the Kapahaka for Tamati's Breakfast Weather show. I was so excited to be on TV with someone famous! I like how the sunrise shines on the beautiful faces in front of Tamati - it was a nice sunny morning.

Kapahaka Pt 5 - by Paenganui

Kapahaka Pt.5 from TheseKidsRock! on Vimeo.

I felt like a Maori chief when I was leading the haka. My responsibility was that I had to get my timing right for when I start my words for the haka. When I got the bit for me to say the haka words, I was the only one that put my hand up. It took a lot of practice for me to get the haka right. Our Maori Teacher Whaea Raewyn was the one who had to get everything ready. I really appreciate what she did for us - thank you.

Kapahaka Pt 4 By Kane

Kapahaka Pt.4 from TheseKidsRock! on Vimeo.

On Friday 18th the Kapahaka group did a practice in front of Room 6 and we gave it our all. Some of the group was frightened to do it for the first time in front of an audience. They was just staring at us and Miss Day and Tienera were filming us. When Paenganui used his loud voice for the Haka, I think Miss Day was frightened and some of Room 6 was too. I think some of Room 6 jumped up from where they were sitting. At the end of the performance everyone was clapping for the group, and then we did it again but with more excitement. It was awesome.

Hi, my name is Stefanie. In this movie we are having a practise because we wanted to be wonderful for Sunday, because we are welcoming these people from Texas in the USA.
We went to the Pakuranga Boat Club and we did a pretty good job. This part of our performance is a speech on behalf of the group. These boys said " thank you" and all that. Anyway.....WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!

Kia Ora, my name is Jahvana and if you didn't know, this is the Kapa Haka group performing in front of Room 6. These people were selected to welcome a group of people to New Zealand...But the awesome part was that they were from Texas - pretty cool aye? Listen to the video to see how talented they are....They're nice and clear, tidy kiwis and confident but the most important thing for the KapaHaka group was to Smile as bright as the sun....Don't forget to watch our other awesome videos...Thank You!!!

Kapahaka Pt.1 from TheseKidsRock! on Vimeo.

In this video you will see some of the amazing performing from the Kapahaka group. I think you know some of these people from last year's group. In this video the Kapahaka gruop have been working very hard. When I watched them I felt like I was visiting a Maori Marae. I think that they're going to do well on Sunday the 27th for their International Rotary Club performance. I hope that you enjoy watching this video.

The Kapahaka Group by Kingi

On Thursday the 16th of September the Kapahaka group performed on the stage and the whole school was watching us. All of us who were performing were going hard out. I was going very hard doing the actions. The boys and I were very loud we were like a giants screaming - we were very very loud. I was going hard as I can scream like a giant when I was performing my Kapahaka group dance. It was funny because its like putting our hands up like for the police. We were not smiling like other Kapahaka groups but still we still tried to perform on stage.
