Something We All Have to Learn-By Jahvana

If you don't know what rubbish means then that is something we all need to work on. Rubbish means: 'Things that are worthless or not wanted'. We should all face the fact that littering is not cool. It's GROSS!!! Put your rubbish in the bin people!!!

The Big Bash by Maria and Arianna

This is the Big Bash. Arianna and I (Maria) are the actresses. I play Melody Bushwalker and Arianna plays Anne Smellsmackie. We are pretending to be weather presenters. We are reporting on the Christchurch Earthquake. If there is any camera or auto cue problems it isn't our fault. We had loads of fun making it - as you can see I went crazy with the jewellery! Hahaha. By the way our camera girl was Imarny and our auto cues were held by Stefanie. As you can see they need some practice!!!
P.S. I had a weird wig on - this is NOT my real hair.
P.P.S Arianna ran out of words to say while I changed characters.

The Super Duper Athletics Day! By Candice

It was Wednesday the 17 of November and Panmure Bridge school was excited because it was Athletics Day! The whole school had done athletics all term. So they all got put into teams of colors and sat on the courts getting ready to have some fun on the fields.

Miss Rich talked to the school for a little while and said, "Have fun!" The teams were red, yellow, green, blue, orange, pink, silver, gold, bronze and turquoise. The sports organised were shot-put, discus, high jump, long jump, kiwi and spoon, face paint, throw the jandal, sprints, balloon races, jump jam, the four hundred metre run and tug of war.

They children versed the other teams. Some teams didn't get to do everything. At the end the kids did the 400 metre run and they were supposed to do tug of war but we did not have enough time.

The kids all ran back to the courts and the teachers spoke. The bell rang they all ran back to class to get their bags and go home! It was a fun and hot afternoon for everyone at Panmure Bridge School!

Face painting with Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Salmon -By Shaye

On a summery Wednesday, Panmure Bridge had School Athletics!! There was many activities such as face painting. The two staff members who were helping with this activity were Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Salmon. There were some beautiful designs by some very good artists!! It was so hard to pick!! My favourite was the silver fern in silver face paint and glitter!!- So Kiwiana! It reminded me of the Netball Silver Ferns ( which is the best team ever! Might I add!) In this photo there are some dirty paint brushes (that need a wash) and some face paint. This would have to be the best activity!

Adam and his Balloon Race - By Kane

On Wednesday 17th November 2010, we had our School Athletics Day. In this picture, Adam is getting ready for a balloon race. They had to put their balloon between their legs and hop across the court. Everyone had to do it and were not allowed to use their hands (but a lot of people did - they cheated! It was mostly the boys including me, so I cheated too, but Adam didn't cheat because he didn't use his hands - only when the balloon fell because he had to pick it up).

The Best Athletics Day Ever! By Imarny

Last Wednesday, Panmure Bridge School participated in an enormous sports event, Athletics. It was the day when students stood out their running skills. Many events occurred like Sprints, High Jump, Jump Jam, 400m Run, Shot Put, Discus, Long Jump and plenty more.

The whole school was separated into teams. The seniors were in Turquoise, Bronze, Silver and Gold. "I really improved in my sprinting" said Arianna to Imarny.

Most of the events made students very tired and puffed. The objective of Athletics was to get lots of medals but most of all just to have fun. Students were battling to get to the inter-school Athletics day. "It was very challenging to compete against each other!" said Arianna to Imarny.

The teachers were thanked for all their hard work, but especially Miss Rich for organising the whole event.

Surf Life Savings National Jandal Day at Panmure Bridge School- by Room 6

On Friday we all had great fun at Panmure Bridge School, fundraising for Surf Life Saving NZ. We had a Mufti Day and wore our jandals to school. We gave a coin donation for such a great cause (who wants a Surf Life Saver to rescue them when they're in trouble at the beach this summer? We sure do!!). The 'Jandal Girls' Lavinia and Tyla went around each classes wearing a huge blow-up jandal each from Surf Life Saving to collect the Mufti Money.

Surf Life Saving NZ is really cool, because they sent their man Jake to our school with a big box of goodies to help us to celebrate the day. There were rash vests, beach balls, key rings, badges, stickers, a huge blow-up Jandal, posters and even flash Havaiana jandals!
Miss Day got us to divide the goodies up and give them to each class at school.

The Seniors then had an afternoon of Jandal Fun, where we watched a video from SLSNZ about the last 100 years they have looked after our beaches in NZ. The swimming togs were really funny - in the olden days the male life savers wore swimsuits like girls do these days!
Mrs Millward then got us to be jandal models and the best models got a beach ball each. Mrs Hiddleston took the jandal throwing competition - to see who could throw a jandal the furthest. The winners got a keyring each. Finally it was time for the jandal pinata! Miss Day found it at the Warehouse, and she and Mrs Hiddleston stuffed it with 5 kgs of lollies from Pak n' Save G.I. - YUM!!! We got a number each and when ours was called, we got to whack the jandal pinata with our jandal until lollies came spilling out. The poor jandal pinata didn't last long!! At the end, the teachers gave out the last of the goodies - including the Havaiana Jandals. Katopau won the big red pair from the best jandal dance off with Ephraim. His own jandals were looking sad and ready for jandal heaven, so it was a good thing that he won a new pair!

Our school raised $205.40. It's not too late to give if you want to too!! Just text BEACH to 4483 to make an instant donation.

Awesome Athletics By Andrew

On Wednesday the Seventh of November 2010 was the day of the Panmure Bridge School Athletics. The children of the school were preparing for the extreme events. Adults got the boring part of leading the events.

Sports and class teacher Miss Rich had planned out Athletics for the big day. It should have
been tiring work planning and teaching. Near the Senior classes was High Jump. At this location children were jumping for pride, glory, fame and medals.

Close to the playground was Shot Put where kids pushed balls from their necks through the distant grass.

At other locations there was sprinting, Jandal throwing, balloon bouncing and many more extreme events.

Athletics are important for kids, because it will grant them fitness and they will get experience
for future life if they enter world - wide Athletics events.

The winners of Athletics Day will enter the inter-school Athletics to win greater medals, more fame and pride in themselves - and more importantly for their school.

Athletics In Sunny Panmure by Shaye

On Wednesday the 17th of November, Panmure Bridge School celebrated Athletics Day. What a good day too - the sun was out and all that could be seen was happy kids running around! There were many groups of different ages. From age 5 - 11 years, all were giving their best. That day was also mufti day so the children could fit into selected team colors. All around the school was covered in sports equipment and games. Not ordinary games though, there was jandal throwing, balloon games and many more unusual but fun activities. All classes participated in this event. The reason for having this event was to select mini athletes for the Inter-School Athletics Event held a week later (Wednesday 24th November).

Each twelve minute session was as good as the last. The competition was heating up. They were all trying so hard for that medal with their name on it! All the staff did a good job at umpiring each activity. It was a pleasure too see the parents cheering their kids on. "It was hard work!" said Tiaan Ramsey from Rm 7. When the students went past the High Jump area, there were two sides of which Left and Right handers could choose to jump on any side mat. It was very close. When you saw the faces of the pupils who made it over the bar, is was just amazing!

Games went by and time did as well. When the lunch bell rang, there were looks of relief and disappointment. The children ran to their class and ate their lunches. Some kids decided to practise activities while it was lunch time.

When the bell rang the kids ran from different parts of the school back to the assembly point - the netball courts. When Miss Rich let the kids back out to finish the rest of the activities, they were off with excitement on their face. "We're out to win some more medals!" exclaimed Amethyst Pa'uesi, with a huge smile on her face! So off they went to complete the last of their activities. They showed very good sportsmanship. Jump Jam with the Juniors was very interesting.

Walking past the Balloon Blast activity sounded very tricky indeed! The last of the whole school activities were nearly over.

For the final activity it was shot put with the silver team. They were trying their best to throw the furthest in shot put. They did well! Then the last bell rang.

Finally it was time for the 400 meter run - they were as fast as a jet plane!
There are some very fast kids at Panmure Bridge School. By the time it was finished, the kids were exhausted and the staff were too!! It was a good day at Panmure Bridge School, and I would be honoured to report on this School's Athletics Day again!
